Your writing and garden

Memory Garden stores your reflections, moods, unfinished writing, garden and settings on your device. You do not need an account. We do not operate a service that receives or stores your journal.

Memory Garden does not sync your journal between devices. Your device’s backup settings may include app data in a device backup managed by Apple.

Voice input and search

If you choose voice input, microphone and speech recognition permission let your device turn speech into text. Speech is processed on your device. Apple may download the language files needed for recognition. Memory Garden does not save an audio recording or send your speech to an external AI service.

Journal search uses your saved text on your device. Search queries and journal text are not sent to us.

Apple features you choose

Widgets use garden names and pictures shared locally with the Memory Garden widget. Widgets and controls can appear on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.

Journal access for Siri, Apple Intelligence, Spotlight and Shortcuts is off unless you enable it in Settings. Enabling it allows those Apple features to find and read saved reflections while your device is unlocked. Archived entries and unfinished writing are excluded. Apple controls how its features process requests, and Shortcuts can pass text to other actions. Turning access off removes Memory Garden’s journal search index; it cannot retrieve text already used elsewhere.

Optional crash reports

Crash reporting is off by default. If you enable it in Settings, Sentry receives technical error and crash reports to help us fix the app. Reports contain technical stack traces and app version information. They exclude journal text, drafts, moods, search queries, screenshots, screen recordings and activity breadcrumbs. We do not add your name, email address or a persistent user identifier to reports.

Sentry necessarily receives network information, including an IP address, when delivering a report. We configure the project to prevent storing IP addresses. We do not use crash reports for advertising, tracking or usage analytics.

You can turn crash reporting off at any time. Reports already sent remain subject to the Sentry project’s retention settings. Deleting local app data turns crash reporting off and does not erase reports already received by Sentry.

Feedback, exports and sharing

Send Feedback opens your email app with a message you can review and send. We receive the email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, and use them to respond and resolve the issue. Please avoid including private journal content. Support correspondence is kept only as needed to handle your request and meet applicable obligations; you can ask us to delete it.

When you export entries or share a garden, you choose the destination in your device’s share sheet. The recipient or service you select handles that copy under its own policies. Deleting data in Memory Garden does not delete exported files, messages or recipients’ copies.

Reminders and permissions

Optional reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not use a remote notification service. You can change reminders in Memory Garden Settings and manage microphone, speech recognition and notification permissions in your device settings.

Access and deletion

You can export your writing from Settings → Manage Data → Export Data as CSV. Delete All Data removes Memory Garden’s local journal, garden and settings. Device backups and copies you have shared or exported are managed separately.

We will update this policy when our practices change. The date on this page identifies the current version.

This website

These static pages are hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. We do not add analytics scripts, advertising trackers or cookies to these pages.
